Join BLACCENT for New Growth: A Juneteenth Celebration exploring freedom, identity, and artistry through the lens of Black hair. This event uplifts local Black creatives and honors the cultural legacy and expression of Black hair as a site of both resistance and joy.

Event Highlights:
– 'I Have A Story to Tell' film screening – a short documentary honoring the history of Waco’s Jockey Club Barbershop
– Live Hair Demos from Black barbers and stylists in interactive salon-style spaces
– Creators panel featuring artists from the exhibit
– Artist meet & greet + immersive gallery experience
– Local Black-owned vendors
– Live Performances, including “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Brittany Allen and “Hair Piece” by Farcast Theatre
– Music, drinks, and celebration!

The event will center the stories and creative work of Black artists and culture-shapers in our community. Come engage in thoughtful conversation, reflect on the deep history of Black hair, and connect with the people creating art and dialogue for liberation.
